Literally.

It's time for a hiatus; both on my blog and my website. Reasons are:

0. My laptop is seriously circa 1997. It weighs at least 15 lbs, swear and it can't handle any task-switching, file uploading, what have you. Also, it has to be on the charging dock the entire time. If you unplug it, it will die.

1. My camera is dying. The pixel-ege (is that a word?) is nothing in comparison to what's out now and I'm noticing the quality of my photos are getting grainy; no clue why.

2. I'm moving, finally! The BF and I were approved for our apartment so we move in on the 1st. So that's mainly my focus over any other extra activities since this one doesn't make me income.

3. That being said, I have forgotten why I started this all in the first place; was it to vent? was it tell my side of the fashion story? was it about money? what. the. hell.

4. Things at my REAL job are going lovely. My boss is amazing; quite nurturing to my creative spirit. We get along so well and I love what I do, so there.

5. I'm getting more focused on my wardrobe consulting dream. I still want to build that up.

6. I'm not writing about anything interesting anymore so I need to regroup; restrategize; recharge.

LAST August, Britt Aboutaleb, a New York-based blogger, wrote a post for Fashionista.com, a beauty and fashion Web site, about her visit to a Gap store where “cute boys” served her coffee while Patrick Robinson, the Gap’s lead designer, helped her select a pair of jeans. It was unclear whether Ms. Aboutaleb had received the $69 jeans free, but some readers’ antennae were raised.

In comments about her post, they accused her of being intentionally vague. But her online response to the comments was anything but vague: “How is it less than crystal clear that I went intending to walk away with gifted jeans? Must I put FREE in the title?”
According to Federal Trade Commission guidelines announced last week, the answer is — or soon will be — “yes.”
Beginning Dec. 1, bloggers, Twitterers and many others who write online product reviews must disclose the receipt of free merchandise or payment for the items they write about.
The guidelines, an update of the F.T.C.’s 1980 guide concerning the use of endorsements and testimonials in advertising, will affect many in the beauty and fashion blogging community, where freebies ($40 eye-shadow palates, $250 clutch purses and, yes, $69 jeans) are rampant. The rules reflect the commission’s concern about how advertisers are using bloggers and social networking sites to pitch their products.
“Pretty much all of the products I review are sent to me by publicists,” said Nadine Haobsh, who writes the beauty blog Jolie Nadine. Last week, she posted an official disclosure policy on her site after learning about the ruling.
Ms. Haobsh and other bloggers have mixed opinions about the commission’s newfound interest in what they’re doing on the Internet. Some say the rules may help identify them as serious journalists.
“The fact that we’re being regulated is actually a backhanded compliment since it establishes legitimacy and shows that blogging is here to stay,” Ms. Haobsh said.
Some think it will help establish more professional standards, policing the kind of bloggers that Amber Katz, the founder of Beauty Blogging Junkie, calls “cloggers,” or bloggers who use their Web sites as platforms for soliciting the latest perfumes or garnering invitations to fashion industry events.
“Cloggers will tweet about how they’d just love a free garment or accessory directly to a brand’s Twitter account,” she said. “They brazenly insist on tons of samples even though they haven’t been blogging long enough to build up any sort of readership.”
Others are upset about what they say is a double standard: The guidelines don’t require disclosure of free samples for newspapers and magazines or their online counterparts.
“There’s the feeling that we’re not as trustworthy as traditional print media and need to be policed,” said Kelly Cook, a founder of a network of blogs about beauty and fashion, including Bag Snob and Beauty Snob. “The singling out is what offends me.”
Carolyn Hsu, the managing editor of The Daily Obsession, said she gets fewer gifts than the print editors she knows, and in March went to a fashion event where the print editors were given a designer bag as a gift but bloggers were not. “There was quite a bit of Twitter outrage,” she said.
Even before the new rules, some bloggers identified posts that advertisers paid them to write as “sponsored.” But most don’t have formal disclosure policies, or they tend to use ambiguous language about giveaways.
Ms. Katz, for instance, writes that she “had the opportunity” for a specific salon service whenever she gets a blowout or manicure on the house.
Others, like Ms. Cook, don’t plan on instituting a disclosure policy because of the new F.T.C. rules. “There’s no way they can enforce this,” she said.
Theoretically there could be a fine, but Richard Cleland, the F.T.C’s assistant director of advertising practices, said that the purpose of the new rules “wasn’t to announce a law enforcement effort, but to provide guidelines.” He added that he expects “a high level of voluntary compliance.”

Indeed, most of the bloggers interviewed for this article say they are crafting ways to comply with the ruling, including posting an official disclosure policy on their “About Me” page or adding a line that the product was free.

“I don’t think readers know exactly how much product is sent,” Ms. Cook said. “They would be shocked if they did.”
But Ms. Cook said that even though readers may not know how common free lip glosses or brand-sponsored lunches are, they do a good job of policing bloggers they suspect have fallen under a company’s spell.
“They catch us,” she said. “They’ll comment, ‘Oh sure, you were second row at the show and now you’re all in love with the brand.’ ”
Free products or not, the majority of reviews on fashion and beauty blogs tend to be positive.
“I’m only going to write about something if it’s great,” Ms. Aboutaleb said.
But the new rules mean companies could now be viewed as bribing bloggers to earn positive reviews.
Alison Brod, whose public relations firm represents Laura Mercier and Old Navy, has four employees whose job it is to get bloggers to write about clients, mostly by providing them with samples. “I don’t have concerns with readers knowing that we sent bloggers product because people simply want to look more beautiful and, chances are, a positive review is still going to drive sales,” Ms. Brod said.
But readers may have concerns about advertisers paying bloggers to write reviews. Lauren Friedman, a lawyer in New York, said: “It would make me less likely to go out and buy a product if I knew the blogger was being paid to review something by the company and wasn’t disclosing that. Once you know, though, you can take a product review for what it’s worth.”
As for Ms. Aboutaleb, she said the new rules about freebies were unlikely to affect the posts on Fashionista.com.
“If we love a product enough to write about it in the first place, then we’ll happily disclose where it came from, and how, before moving on to more relevant, and interesting, information.”

I know, I've been extremely neglectful to my blog but I'm been swamped with moving procedures, launch of my website, moving procedures, and working a full time job. There has been a lot going on but I'll definitely be getting back in the swing of things. It's been very difficult due to my car issues...I don't have one [thanks parking tickets & DMV!]. The little things like grocery shopping and getting the daily necessities have become a challenge; alternatives like using the bus are a b**** to take all your groceries on....I was entirely spoiled by having a car. I literally drove anywhere including my sporadic trips to LA to visit the boyfriend. But now, I'm getting used to public transportation including BART. I'm heading to the city this week to do my first video interview and I'm hoping that it will work out well. Wish me luck. If I'm going to make it one day in NYC, I've got to get the public transportation down...

I'd die to be there right now; the environment, the music, the sounds, the feel. Jay-Z has been stuck in my head ever since him and Alicia Keys performed at the VMA's.

Back to reality...my website is going well and I'm excited to say that I'll be having another round of new interviews with some fabulous people including my first video interview!! Also, let me know what you guys think, what's missing, what's not working and anything else. It really helps me to weed out the icky, sticky stuff and keep the website clean and free of nonsense. On another amazing note, my boyfriend came into town which was so great. I've missed him so much and he's finally here...well he left today but that's why I was mainly on a hiatus. We went looking at apartments because he'll finally be joining me here and I can't wait. We're waiting for approval as I type, so keep those fingers crossed. He was also my photographer which was definitely a change from my norm of self-timer. We enjoyed being lazy together; that's all you can do when it's been long distance; no need for crazy events, long trips or any of the sort.

I didn't want to create another generic fashion website. I wanted to make it about the creatives out there in the world wide web. As some of you know, I've been obsessed with RZ since her premiere on Bravo, 1st season. In all actuality, I didn't care for her before her show because of media and such but I found a new appreciation for her. :)

So, I've been dying for the RZ collection to come out, as was Taylor (from RZP) lol and now, its here! Launching on September 12th on QVC @ 8pm, her collection will be up for grabs...and trust me, I already have a few main picks.

It's decently priced, I'd think. All pieces are under $200 and when it comes to accessories, I don't even flinch at a price tag... shame shame I know. (I lie, anything over $1000, gets scary.... :( )

On another note, I put in an order for my Dolce Vita booties which I've been dying to get and found them...ON SALE, on Urban Outfitters so I shall be receiving them in 5-7 days. I've attached a picture but have no clue how it will be displayed because, once again, I'm doing this from my phone.

And yes, I know I've been completely absent from my blog but I've gotten an overwhelming amount of recommendations which I'm so thankful for so its been a process of dishing out questions, checking out sites and seeing potential in all. But regardless, that being said, please feel free to send more. I'm really looking for a great up-and-coming designer or two and maybe a stylist, oh and a photographer. I feel chic, sophisticated and quite sassy.

Today was a great day off. Ran tons of errands including Ikea, Target and good ol' Yogurtland. If you haven't been, you must go. So delicious, it's ridic. It's even better than Pinkberry...I know.

My blouse is from Buffalo Exchange, sort of like a consignment shop. It's huggeeee! I purchased two of these sequin tops but I particularly like this one because it has crazy sharp shoulders which is on trend, and gorgus. I got them about a year ago and I'm going to go back again because it's been a while since I've been and I'm dying for a sequin dress and a sequin blazer.

The shoes...I know right? die, die, die. I went on a random shoe shopping spree, at where else, Target. Well, not really where else...but I found some fantastic ones which I now regret returning and only keeping these black ones. But hey, they are cute right?

Anywho, I noticed that you lovely readers thought that the last entry was me in the pictures...but actually that's the milliner's daughter-in-law. Her hair is pretty awesome right? But it's not me...you gotta read the entries in the latter, sillies. But yes, go to Zazu & Violets Hats.

Biggest Sale of the Season

Tips:

watch out for feisty shoppers; claim what's yours and hold on to it. Otherwise, it's free to be taken.
be prepared to have no help; it's fast-paced and hectic so go in with a goal and stick to it so you don't get overwhelmed.
SMELL EVERYTHING! Since the clothing is wore by the staff members during their shift, be prepared to smell every piece your interested in because you don't want sweaty, already worn pieces...even though it's on sale. It's the principle.
Know that the deals always get better as the sale progresses so know that basics could end up being $8, dresses could be $24, etc. So if your patient, always check back.
The lines will usually be long so be prepared with water and such to wait in line.
dressing rooms are a huge hassle so cut the time and wear pieces like a maxi dress so you can easily slip on pieces to try on in front of a mirror...that way you avoid the dressing room line.

Caylee has completely captured my heart in her simplicity. Her look is truly pure; budget-friendly, something we all can relate to. This gorgeous, 22-year old from Indiana has a defined look of casual basics and I'm truly obsessed. She brings a sweet essence to the blog world as she's only been blogging for a short time and already has received rave reviews, from the likes of Knight Cat and Chictopia. She's given me inspiration for her budget-friendly shopping and her DIY tips. Caylee has a subtle way of being in-her-own fashion-forward; showing off nothing over the edge but just enough to want to capture that look yourself...easy chic and profresh. Why did you start your blog?

I've been reading blogs some of the older fashion blogs for almost two years now. I too wanted to share my passion and connect with others, but back then, I didn't feel like I had anything good to contribute to the blogosphere. At the end of last year, I had finally defined my style and became more comfortable with myself, so I started uploading some outfit photos on my MySpace and then earlier this year I created a Chictopia account. The response was so good, especially on Chictopia, that I decided to give blogging a go...that was just a few weeks ago, and I haven't looked back.

Who/what inspires you?

Scandinavian street style is my biggest source of inspiration. I cannot and will not ever get enough of Sweden and Norway and the incredible, incredible style the ladies have over there - it's absolutely perfect (see my list of favorite blogs below for proof)! I also look to nearly all street style blogs for inspiration, and model-off-duty style is a definite favorite of mine.

What can someone do to look fashionable if they are on a strict budget?

I am that person on a strict budget, so I guess I could lead by example here. There are so many stores that are cheap yet stylish (see next question) and that pick up on the current trends, so if you educate yourself in fashion, and most importantly, find out exactly what works for you and your style, you can find those pieces anywhere, no matter what the place or price.

Where do you do the majority of your shopping?

H&M, Forever 21, Target, Urban Outfitters, Aldo, Nine West, American Apparel....really inexpensive places, yet you can find just about everything you need. I also buy a lot of things off of eBay. You can find great things at discounted prices (I got a brand new $50 Zara blouse for $20), items from a previous season, or something that is already sold out in stores.

Name fashionable ladies/gents who tickle your fancy.

Celebrity-wise, it’s the three stylish Kate’s - Kate Lanphear, Kate Moss, and Kate Bosworth. Right now I really love Carolina from Fashion Squad, Lena from Elenita, and Ida from Life by Ida – every single outfit they wear is exactly something that I would and want to wear. They’re amazing!

How do you know what looks good when you’re done outfitting? What's the LAST piece you add?

I'm not really sure; I guess I do stand in from of a full-length mirror and make sure the overall the outfit - the proportions, the accessories, etc. - works together. The last pieces that I add are my rings. I have a variety of that I pick and choose from everyday.

Describe your "getting ready" ritual.

I usually have an idea of what I want to wear, based on a current piece of clothing that I am obsessing over (i.e. sometimes I want to wear my denim vest all week, or I really want to wear boots), my mood, or inspiration that I have just seen; whether I pick that outfit out in the morning or the night before is up in the air.

Describe your style in 3 words or less.

Casual, edgy-feminine.

Wow, you really don't want me to go here. I am following 70 blogs on Bloglovin', if that tells you anything. Here's a list of some of my current favorites: KnightCat, Fashion Squad, Stockholm Street Style, Elenita, Life by Ida, Jak&Jil, Style by Kling, Le Fashion Image, LeFlassh, Style Sightings, Fashion Toast, A Fashion Tale, and Anywho.

What do your family & friends think of your blog/fashion sense?

I don't know anyone personally who has any interest in fashion, whatsoever, so a lot of the current trends and things that I wear are pretty foreign to them. My mom thinks it's funny that I love wearing things that were in style during her younger years in the 80s and 90s, like high-waist Levi cutoffs. My boyfriend doesn't mind or really even care what I wear, but he does think some my get-ups are quite crazy, because again, fashion isn't the norm in Indiana. Although not as interested in the idea of fashion as me, my friends understand my obsession and I love getting compliments from them.

Give us a secret no one knows. (i.e. how many pairs of shoes you have, your obsession with toe socks, whatever)

This is no secret, because if you were to look at the credits under the outfits photos on my blog, you could easily see this: I do not own anything designer, and the most expensive thing in my closet is a pair of $110 boots. I'm a bargain shopper on a student budget!

Name one piece from your closet you can't live without?

My Nine West Cuzza boots from last winter - they are the perfect lace-up, chunky-heeled ankle boot; they go with everything in my closet and are incredibly comfortable. I will wear them to death again this fall/winter.

What motivates you to blog?

Mainly the fact that I live in Indiana (not a state known for its fashion sense), and again, I know no one personally who has an interest in fashion like I do. Blogging allows me to connect with others around the entire globe that share my passion and can appreciate it when I say I am obsessing over the latest pair of shoes or gorgeous editorial.

You’re an item in a boutique. What item would you be and what does it look like?

I kind of want be the perfect basic - a fitted black boyfriend blazer or an over-sized, slouchy white tee - one that's not too expensive and is one of those versatile pieces that you can wear with everything. Though I also wouldn't mind being the perfect black "it" shoe of the moment, preferably right now a wedge ankle boot.

Complete this sentence: "I'm obsessed with Cat's blog KnightCat because" nearly every picture she posts gets right-clicked and saved into my inspiration folder.

What advice can you give to blogger on the rise?

Post on your blog often, to give your readers content and keep them coming back. Get accounts on sites like Chictopia and Lookbook.nu to post your outfits on as well, to draw readers from there to your blog. Become friends with other bloggers (hiiiii Cat and Erika!!). Most importantly, I believe, is to stay true to your style - what makes you, you is what makes your blog special.

My best friend posted a million and one photos of us from back in the bay and many people have been posting on twitter, the #iwillneverforget segments and I was cracking up. SO I've decided to share with you all, past failures in fashion with my friends and I. lolol...oh man.

i will never forget that we THOUGHT it was cute to wear "dope kicks" with skinnyish jeans. cuz it was super bay.

i will never forget when we thought it was cool to wear matching shoes...at the same time.

i will never forget when we first got photoshop and OVERLY used our contrast and color saturation. lolol.

i will never forget when we thought it was cool to wear sneakers aka Sketchers and such with our cool, hip outfits like the particular one my best friend is wearing with her asymmetrical top and faded bleached denim.

i will never forget when we thought it was cool to wear the matching accessories to contrast with our outfits.

i will never forget when i thought it was cool to wear matching puka shells to my matching top. cool. oh and have some cool, "tricked-out" braids on the side of my head.

i will never forget when i thought it was cool to wear my leg warmers as arm warmers... hmm.

i will never forget when we thought it was cool to wear backpacks...to a party. LOL. not just a backpack, but a dolphin pack pack...

i will never forget when we thought it was cool to wear cropped top cardigans with another layer...and to expose our titties to the highest extreme...and wear pointed toe flats. lolol.

i will never forget that i thought it was cute to have hella short bangs, and hella short pants, and hella ACCESSORIES. hella TOO MUCH.

i will never forget that my bestie and i decided to match THE ENTIRE GRAD NITE trip...in hideous outfits, not on purpose.

i will never forget that wearing cargo pants and sequin cropped tops were the cutest thing ever to wear to the club...lol.

i will never forget when i thought it was cool to cut my hooded sweatshirts so i could match off the shoulder tops...and rock it with hoop earrings.

i will never forget when i thought it was cool to add beads to my hoop earrings to match my outfits...

i will never forget when i thought it was cute to get "sha-naynay" length acrylic nails and then act hood...on purpose.

i will never forget when we thought it was cute to wear sunglasses...in the club...to match our outfits...when it was dark anyway.

i will never forget when again, my first time with photoshop, i thought it would be cool to add such effects...to look even cooler..with my foil grill. ya...

i will never forget not only wearing pack packs to a party, but also rockin' slippers...

i will never forget when once again, rockin the color on color, matchy fits we rocked...oh so wet seal.

Today was a glorious day off. Woke up late, drank a cup of joe, ate an egg sammie and watched my girl Rachael Ray and The View. My friend Alexia, joined me in an excursion to the mall to check out window displays and to get out of the house. Ohhh, how the mall is soooo old. Unfortunately, we weren't looking to spend lots of money or go traveling far out of our "jurisdiction" to find some great stores. However, I did truly enjoy Forever 21's new Cirque 21 line. I really did love it but unfortunately the pieces were too short for me because I wanted to buy these pieces specifically for work. [sad face]. But for those who party all the time, party all the time, pa-pa-party all the time, the new line is pretty unique and somethin' else.

I've been trying to find ones in stores for such a long while and finally, Caylee has given me the inspiration. She created her own lace bike shorts by cutting a hair of lace tights, so I've done the same and soooooo happy I did.

It's so funny how much respect I get when I'm wearing just an ol' Targesa (Target) top. Weird. lol. I bought this top about two years ago when Alice Temperley did an affordable line for Target and I fell IN LOVE with this little stunner and I still wear it to this day, obvi.

Work was really slow today; assuming back to school vacations are coming to an end and everyone is getting back to normal soon. But I had some very interesting characters grace their presence at my store that gave me a giggle or two. I had little sleep and a huge pimple on my forehead, hence the ginorm headpiece covering it. When I went into Peet's for my usual, the girl asked me what I called what I was wearing and I told her, "a pimple cover-upper" lol. She gave an awkward giggle and handed me my change. LOL. hey, whatev.

And yes, I know...i'm rockin' acid wash and it's pretty horendous but I'm dreading buying jeans because I despise them so I'm rockin all my old jeans... :)

Always Coca-Cola. Today, was a pretty good day! One of my greatest clients came in and made my day so great. She's this upbeat, amazing woman with a huge spirit and gives me such hope for my days. I dressed her in the latest from Riki and she looked like a doll; so sophisticated and sexy.

I felt really good today in my outfit; I'm learning to take the bus as the metropolitan girl that I am (becoming) and I feel sometimes like such a fool in my outfits because I'm always dressed way more fancier than anyone aboard...but it makes the adventure even more hilarious. Anyway, the jacket I got was from a clothes swap and I totally dig it. It's got SHOULDER PADS which are awesome considering how "in" they are and I paired it with my rugged cowboy-esque boots. I'm craving this particular pair from BCBG, which I bought then returned only because I don't need them quite yet. I'll wait til the heel falls off my current ones :).

They are cute right?! Once they get all beat up; I'll probably beat it with chains and rub it in the ground. LOL; BDSM...wait is that how you ~~smell~~ spell it?

I forgot in my last post to mention what I was wearing and where to buy and I'm way too lazy to go back and add so I'll add what I'm wearing in this post.

Meet the Photographer-Sabrina Noel Hill.

When I met Sabrina, the first thing I noticed was her gorgeous, out of control, red hair. And that was only the beginning. Her personality was abundant in strong independence, passion for veggies and a love for art. She took me to my first art show, where I too, being an art fanatic. She oozes adventurism, showcasing the ride of her subjects or herself. I've noticed the one thing that's got me goin' about her, is her own personal character. She has a true passion for her loved ones; family and friends. With that, it overflows into her art. She captures the true spirit of her subjects through scenes. I shot with her when I lived in Los Angeles and she had recently moved into her new place. It was dark, empty with beautiful wood floors; perfect. She used her tools to capture something almost magical, mystical, enchanting. Her photos tell me a story and I'd like you to take that journey too.

What got you started in photography?

I have always been taking pictures, and remember getting my first camera for my 10th birthday. Its a pink and gray Polaroid camera that I still use today. I went to film school in Monterey and I was constantly behind the camera when I finally took my first photography class. It was black and white film and I loved the darkroom. It was all downhill from there.

Who/what do you most like to capture?

I like to shoot portraits. I love to look at my photos of people and get some sence of them captured in an image. That is always my goal. Be a unique mirror. I particulary like to shoot other artists. Painters, musicians, writers. They seem to be easier to work with and open to some of my strange ideas!

Where do you like to shoot?

Anywhere. I just built a small studio in my apartment, but I also like to take the show on the road. Los Angeles offers some really great locations for shooting. Great textures, buildings and also great views and landscapes... I love shooting on rooftops!

What motivates you during a shoot?

I spend a lot of time with my subjects and getting to know them. It is important to me that they are very comfortable. I believe that if my subject isn't comfortable, then they won't look comfortable on camera...and who want's that?

What inspires you?

oh boy, so many things...color, texture, smiles, smells, salty air, shiny objects, movement, jumping, hair, plastic, clouds, dirt, anything Japanese.

What kind of cameras do you use?

I shoot mostly digital with my 5d mark 2. i also have a holga medium format and shot Polaroid every once in a while.

The colors are so captivating; the face is captured.

What's your favorite piece you've done?

my favorite shot is a photograph i took on new years a few years back. i dressed my two friends up in costumes, brought a blow up doll, and caputred some great emotion and movement in the woods of monterey. I have a bunch of favorites, but this one always strikes me as being pretty vibrant and fun to me.

Obsessed with this photo and the location itself, is amazing.

I know your a videographer as well. What draws you to direct?

I was a director before a photographer. I think filmmaking is one of the most-collaborative art forms, that's why I think I am so drawn to it.

Some of my favorite photographers are, Annie Leibovitz, Richard Avedon, and Floria Sigismondi.

What advice would you give to photographers on the rise?

Keep shooting. Do it every day.

Describe your "photog" style.

I have a very real style. I don't like to Photoshop my images too much, and if I do, it is to experiment with color. I also believe that I am in an evolving artist and will continue to change my style and fill out my craft over the years.

I've decided to add a new segment to my blog; giving readers advice with everything fashion/shopping.

Cha-cha-check it out!

What. Women. Need. A clear, understatement of the year. We seem to "need" everything right now; the right bag, the right shoes, new scarfs, dresses for work; the list is exhausting. The major thing that seems to stop us right our shopping footsteps is this hideous recession. What if you could be fashion-savvy yet recession-proof? My answer-it's all in the wrists.

1. Write a list of necessities per season. Whether it's a new jacket, boots or layering basics. Write them down!

2. Cut a budget and stick to it! Leave your cards at home, and bring cash. If your not the cash-carrying type, put your designated budget on a pre-paid debit card, which can also be used for online shopping.

3. Do your research. Go online to find out sales, promos and the special days they land on. Go to places like www.theoutnet.com for designer digs for less and www.retailmenot.com for coupon codes and discounts for everything under the sun.

4. Keep focused. If your doing in-store shopping, map it out first. Find out who carries what and make that store your "coat store", your "accessories store" etc. It's also wise to shop online to preview what that particular store is carrying currently. Also, don't bring friends or family that will distract you or persuade you to buy more or buy less. You know what's best for you!

5. Be mindful. Spread your shopping days up if your a shop-a-holic because it makes things more exciting than knocking it all out in one day. If you can't stand shopping but you know you need an update, designate one day where you knock it all out.

Stay focused, keep within budget and don't bring anyone who will bend those rules!

My outfit posts are back! I know, I know, I'm usually writing about someone else's craft but I miss posting my looks but I'm going to keep it down to a minimum, only posting the best!

I've always loved Motel ever since my previous employer carried the label in store. I only owned one dress, the polka dot bubble dress from last season but I decided it was time to expand my Motel collection. I'm huge on "wishlist shopping" and I was doing so on the Motel website, which I do on a weekly basis, putting pieces on a list and not actually purchasing. Well, I decided to break that trend and purchase a unitard. Little did I know that I was purchasing MY ENTIRE WISHLIST. :) Ohhhh the dramz. So this little number is one of the pieces I "had to have".

Summer is here; and I dressed accordingly.

Meet the Blogger: Erika Marie.

When I first came across Erika's blog, I was drawn to her ridiculously unique beauty. Start with the gorgeous, im-so-jealous-gimme-your-shampoo hair, and then to her totally unique facial features! Then what really reeled me into being a fashion chalet reader, was her extremely trendy yet out-of-this-world style. Erika is brilliant in her sense of style & taste. Hailing from the beautiful Florida, she has this touch on fashion that I wouldn't normally think of when I think of Florida (i.e. Miami: short mini skirts and flourescent colors :] )...she radiates confidence and seems to carry this persona of "who the hell cares" and I LOVE IT! She's one of the only people I know who can pull off Motel correctly. I had sold Motel for almost a year and fitted many girls in their "cut to the frame" fit and she pulls the looks off seamlessly. Not only is this fashionista fabulous, but she has a boston terrier like I do. Her's is a girl, Sweety & mine is a boy, Satchmo. They are the best dogs in the world. Okay okay, back to fashion. I may not always agree with what this lovely lady wears, but she sure can ALWAYS pull it off and I'm a wee-bit (more like MAJORLY) jealous that this lil' mama can work it!

Where did Fashion Chalet come from?

I wanted something with Fashion in it yet somehow evoking Paris, France, and that's where the "Chalet" part came from. Definition: a quaint house used as a ski lodge or holiday home [French] I also liked the flow of the two words together.. :)

Where do you do the majority of your shopping?

Online now. I don't have time to get to the stores like I used to. I love vintage boutiques as well. And going through my Mom's and Grandmother's things. When I have the extra time though; Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Nordstrom and Books a Million are where I am at the most.

Name fashionable ladies/gents who tickle your fancy.

Audrey Hepburn and anyone channeling her, just saw Brittany Murphy in "Love and Other Disasters" she was excellent as a modern-Audrey-ette. :) Model, Snejana Onopka is the cutest little thing, I love her striking features (learned about her by way of Little Plastic Horses) Regina Feoktistova, another gorgeous model who I am constantly enamored by. Kate Lanphear and her work for ELLE is akin to the Holy Grail. Actress/Model Isabel Lucas. Model, Fabienne Vanderhaeghen just amazes and astonishes me, her eyes alone are like glittering jewelry.

What kind of camera do you use? Who takes your photos?

I use my 12.0 megapixel Kodak easy-share. I usually take my own photos with a Tripod and Timer setup. My brother used to play photographer in the early stages of the blog as well. Then, I met a local Photographer who worked with me on some Shoots (seen in Urban Outfitters) but is in Europe until Mid-July on work.... my Husband just bought a new camera, so I may start asking him for his help.

Phew!!! Too many to name. But I bloglove all of my favorites (which is a very long list) and check in on my readers all of the time. I try my best to comment everybody back, but when I can't, it still doesn't mean I'm not checking out your blog updates! ;)

What do your family & friends think of your blog/fashion sense?

My Grandmother gets a kick out of the fact that I wear a lot of her vintage stuff for all to see. She loves it when I dress classic á la Audrey. My brother tells all of his friends, and my Mom and Dad couldn't be happier.

(like seriously, name someone else who would wear their sandals like that...what a wonder this fashionista is!)

Welll... everybody knows by now about My Little Pony obsession, I'm sure, they however do not know about my husband still surprising me with them around the holidays.. haha.. As far as a secret nobody knows?? Hmm... how about the fact that I can't stand wearing new shoes when it rains and get upset about having to re-arrange my entire outfit because of it. I also have my own closet just for my shoes, the walk-in is strictly for clothing. I may sell some more in my SHOP soon.

It's a sad day for everyone due to the death Michael Jo Jackson. I don't think anyone can truly believe he is gone. From Off The Wall, to Thriller, to Bad and more, he's given us continuous hits, filled of the MJ touch; sass, pop, high-energy and fulfilling.

Although MJ is gone, his music will always be around, constantly playing on our radios, ipods, & stereos.

She is well-known for her season on Charlie's Angels and her emmy-winning movie, The Burning Room. I had to opportunity to interview this up and coming hair & makeup artist, Heather Marie. She is so passionate about her craft, showing devotion and pride in her work. This girl is a truly Profresh individual, giving a funky-fresh vibe on all that she does. I chose to feature her because she gives off an attitude, showing her craft is NOT a game; this is real, this is her; f*** the rest. I love that she thinks outside the box, using color and drama to make her looks unique. Only HM can bring her craft to light the way she does. Even though she is still in cosmetology school, she already is skilled in every sense of the way. The benefit of her still being in school, the hair cut/color/style is CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP. I'm talking $10 for a haircut. It's crazy especially because of the way you want out.

What made you decide to do hair & makeup as a profession?

It has always been something I was interested in and enjoyed doing.

Where would you like to work? Why?

Runway would definitely be something I would like to experience; I would be able to travel the world. Working fast pace at a runway would be a thrill. I always pictured myself working in the salon, but with any opportunity ill take it and GO.

Who/what inspires you?

I like to think that I inspire myself. You have to have self motivation to be in this profession. Other peoples' creations inspire me as well to be just as good or even better. I want to be the best, so keep on reaching.

What's your favorite makeup/hair products to use?

Fav makeup is MAC, Benefit & Too Faced. Fav hair product is Eufora.

Tell us a secret tip no one knows.

Here's a tip: If you want your eye shadow to last all day & not crease on the lids apply primer or a base before applying your eye shadow. Works especially well with loose shadows or pigments.

My best friend is truly amazing. She's working on her portfolio to get herself out there as a hairstylist and makeup artist. Everyone knows she can do amazing hair but she's just now branching off doing costume makeup and I think she did a great job. This was the inspiration;

Ignore the two photos on the side of the middle. The inspiration for the makeup was the photo in the middle. We wanted to achieve HUGE hair and we did so! If you seen the previous photo before, the photo was the inspiration for the hair. She did a great job and I'm quite proud of her.

Structure is a new obsession. It's so tailored with so much flair right?! This dress was so gorgeous on the hanger and I fell even more in love when I put it on. Adding the sparkle in my necklace and bracelet brought the dimness of my dress lightness for this season.

I love Spring; light colors, fair fabrics, breezy and whimsical. One of my favorite shopping websites, ASOS. They called my favorite trend, The New Innocence. It really does capture a woman's innocence with the light colors of baby pink, neutral beige and slate gray. I would pair any of these items with a biker moto jacket and booties. Mixing fancy princess with rough biker is my favorite and I'm shopping now!

Birthday Time!

My birthday is coming up and I'm finally excited. I'm planning and narrowing down venues I'd like to go to. We're doing glam fab night and I can't wait. It's just my girls and I, dressed to the nines and lounging in a beautiful lounge in San Francisco. I've been shopping for dresses but I have no idea what dress I want. I've narrowed it down to very structural dresses or body-con dresses. Want to see what I've got so far? Help me pick what I should wear.

I'm obsessed with this dress because of pre-form for your body parts. What better way to show off your body then having every dimension of yourself outlined; the white stripe on the smallest part of you, the white outline of the chest and the white band at the bottom gives great proportion from the white band at my waist and white band at my thigh. The visible zipper is a great detail, almost as an accessory.

This dress, to die for! The color is fabulous, so rich and in season and will great on my skin tone. I love the bustier top and the ruching in the back is so luxurious-looking. The waistband is great but it will really define the waist and show off the better of my features; my chest and legs. You always want to be seen in three parts and in this dress, it's the bust, the waist and the legs where the dress hits. So in love!

This dress is absolutely stunning! The structure on this dress is just gorgeous and so unique. The pintucks on the hips of the dress create pockets on the side, giving what I love; POCKETS! There isn't a photo of the back but the back is so gorgeous. It's backless with a huge bow on the lower back. It's sleek, chic and just fabulous. The color is so amazing and would bounce off my skin in a great way. The mint green is so beautiful and would be great against tan skin and paired with neutral pumps; ohhh in love!

Now for: SHOES!

This shoe is so adorable and would look great with the black and white body-con dress. It's classic and chic, with a not-so-high heel which is great for dancing!

I might just get these shoes even if I don't wear them for my birthday! Seriously, they are so adorable and fancy. The corsage bow on the toe is so feminine and the cream color is classic. I'd wear this shoe with the mint green tulip dress or the pale yellow structural bustier dress.

Not positive on these shoes simply because the strappiness on a shoe is pretty much over for me. Hmm..think I already made my decision..

I might just want these as well! Totally feminine and the color is great against tan feet. The ruffles are a great added detail! The peep toe is sexy, seductive but still very chic because of the neutral, cream color.

My birthday wishes are soon to be granted; my friends and I taking on the beautiful San Francisco city and my boyfriend coming up to the bay area to go on a mini-vacation. I'm so excited and can't wait to share it with the people I love the most.

I was totally obsessed with I found this headband. Seriously, obsessed! I took my mother shopping for a pre-Mother's day gift. This outfit was really great because it was death-hot on my trip home from LA and it was still pretty warm when I got back in the bay area. Shopping at Forever 21 is so easy; always on trend, fashion-forward, and no one bothers me (because the sales staff doesn't ever offer help). The latest is bright florals, brights, rompers in brights, etc. (see my blog entry about the latest trends.

Look #1:

Bright floral dress; Purchase

This dress is so gorgeous! Pure, 100% cotton and a wonderful cut. The empire waist flatters my figure and the wide halter straps are perfect because it will support a larger chest. The only down side is if you do have a bigger chest, there is a small amount of padding in the top which I did not like. The skirt of the dress has tulle which creates a better hourglass shape. The bright colors are perfect for this Spring/Summer and pairing this with espadrilles or cowboy boots depending on your style. A cute pair of flats would also be great with this, keeping it casual yet fashionable.

So obsessed with this outfit. It is perfect for this weather, this season, everything! The skirt is such a great color and paired with the top is so chic, so retro. The pockets, of course, are a true obsession. Anything with pockets is mine for sure!

I really wanted to play down the femininity of the strapless bustier dress so I thought adding the menswear button-down shirt. I had originally tied it cowboy-style but I thought it looked so much better. Adding the vest gave it a measurable touch. This look would look great with cowboy flat boots or sandals. Even taking off the vest would look great alone with the gingham button down and the dress.

Look #4:

Double belted romper; Purchase

I'm in love with this romper so much! The color is fantastic, so bright and vibrant. Make a statement with black tights and black booties and this romper will stand out to its maximum. To wear for day, a pair of wedges or cute sandals would be great. Keeping the accessories to a minimum will make this romper the spotlight.

My mother is truly one of a kind; well besides the fact that we're so similar in personality! I wanted to treat her to something really special since she's been so supportive of my dreams and really been there for me.

I decided to conduct one of my services for her, ShopFit, and I think she had a really great time.
ShopFit is a service I offer to my clients that shows them how to shop for themselves by finding what works for their body type. I offer myself to ease the client by pre-shopping for every piece.

The particular store I chose was:

I've always known that NY&C had great clothes but this company really has upped the fashionista "anty". They now have everything for any age, seriously. It's sophiscation chic; covered in ruffled halter tops, high-waist pencil skirts, wrap dresses, button-down shirts, trenchs, and mid-rise jeans in great cuts. I figured, my mom must find something she'd like here; the possibilities were endless.

An hour before my mom was to show up, I met with one of the ladies, Karen, would was helpful in letting me pre-shop and put everything in one room without having to hold anything outside of the room like some stores do. I pulled everything I knew my mom would dig, including mid-rise knee-length skirts, prints in green and blue, button-down short sleeve tops, cotton tees, bermuda shorts, linen capris, etc. Outfitted in the room were complete outfits, a few pairs of wedges, wide belts, and under-tanks. She was set!

After a few hours of trying-on and taking-off, my mom was set with a few couple pieces that looked great on her and below are a few pictures of my fun, lil' mama.

Good morning beautiful Los Angeles!! It feels so nice right now at 6:10AM. 57 degrees and rising quickly; dead awake and ready for the day.

Brief posting, wanted to let you all know what I was up to since I haven't posted in the last few days. I'm actually here in LA taking care of some court matters with my previous landlord. He owes me the cheddddaa! So we just served him yesterday so I'm hoping to take him down!

Enough about the boring! I took a little excursion through some shopping areas and was totally diggin the trends everywhere; from Forever 21 to H&M to BR to Old Navy to mom n' pop boutiques. Besides the fact that most youthful stores are advertising for proms since its prom season, along side it were pops of bright florals, tribal prints in chiffon fabric, TONS of strapless sweetheart dresses, A-line high waist skirts, strappy espridrilles (?), rolled cuff pants, rompers in brights like lemon and lime, and so much more. Unfortunately like the absent-minded soul that I am, I completely forgot my camera so all the pictures I took were in my last minute stop-in at Forever 21 after I remembered to bring my camera. I'll be posting those in a few days. Anyways, I was completely inspired by the trends and although I'm very limited at how much I can spend at the moment, it totally gave me great ideas for pieces already in my closet.

It's Mothers Day on Sunday as you all SHOULD know so don't forget to get your mom or someone who's been there for you like my own mom has, something nice. They deserve it, I promise, no matter how much they piss you off! :)

Prom Fashion.

My bro has officially turned eight18teen. Oh my and it was his senior prom on Saturday, May 2nd. Although I had a dramatic morning/afternoon, I was so happy to be a part of his prom experience; I miss mine so much. The dresses, the getting ready, the dancing, the photos, I miss it all.

I was going through his prom date, Jeralene's prom photos and let me just say that prom has changed so much since I went four years ago...ewww (4 years!). I hope she doesn't mind... :) but I wanted to post their pictures because the fashion for prom is so eccentric and unique.

The back of Jeralene's dress was gorgeous and they matched perfectly. Compared to the color palette of my year, I think she picked the perfect color for the season and her skin tone. The deep purple was very royal, and it off-set my brother's tux nicely.

Yes, my brother is absolutely "special" yet such a gentleman... :)

This is year 2009 prom dress choices.
Below is year 2005 prom dress choices (and the only picture I could find).

Although there isn't a huge difference between prom dress picks, you can tell that Glamour is more the pick for this year. I admire a lot of the picks of Jeralene's friends and if I could find the men of my prom's pictures, I'd post the choices of the men of my year. However, my brother's friends didn't chose Air Forces or painted blazers with the words, "Hood" or "Bay" or "Hood Area" or anything affiliated with where we're from...thank God!

The boys looked fairly classic, chic and much better than the boys of my year did. Thank goodness! Although, obviously I didn't attend their prom so I'm not sure if the "hood" attire was active or not, but luckily not in my bro's circle of friends.

We all know that trends come from re-occurring trends of the past; 1980's neon colors, 1920's flapper dresses and fringe, 1970's hippie headbands and flowy prints, etc.

But what about 1990's?! We all think of the GRUNGE look; baggy plaids, baggy jeans and Doc Martens. Well, what about the good ol' days of the REAL 90210? Those were the days...tight mini skirts, bra tops and jean jackets, body-con dresses, and keds. I received an email from one of my favorites, WhoWhatWear on the 1990's trend.

Trendspot; What's Your G(Jeans)?

As you all know, I'm not the jean-lover; haven't found a pair that does the trick so I stay with my leggings, trousers and tights...BUT I must admit that the trends for jeans are amazing and totally fashionista.

Current/Elliott, who started the baggy, boyfriend jean look, are ones of my favorites as far as inspiration goes but the brand is far too expensive so I take for inspiration.

Here are two pairs of denim that I truly adore; One, because of the distress, tears and age to the denim. One pair is $216 and one pair is $27.80; can you tell which is which?

Ya, didn't think so. :) The pair to the right is the Current/Elliot jeans found at: Chick Downtown for $216 and the pair to the left was found at: Forever 21 for $27.80!

Great deal right? Personally, I love the ones from Forever 21 because it has for rips and more funky-ness to them. Paired with a slouchy white tee and sandals or wedges would create the perfect look for Spring; one of my personal favorite looks...if I wore jeans ;).

Another popular trend is the high-waist knit skirt. I do, personally, enjoy this trend because it's so easy and VERY versatile. I mean, you literally can pair this skirt with anything; from a tee and tights to a sheer blouse and tucked in and a long cardigan.

Here are two almost identical skirts that I like; one is $10.80 and one is $32.00...Can you tell the difference?

Ok, well besides the fact that the pictures give it away, you can't really tell which is which. The one to the right is from Forever 21 for $10.80 and the one to the left is from American Apparel. The reason I've compared the two skirts is because I don't believe anyone needs to spend $32.00 on a knit skirt when they could get a similar skirt for $10.00. One is fleece; the other is cotton. Preferably, cotton will last longer, fleece will be those little balls you hate to get on most cheap things...will blog soon about that.

My point with the two is don't buy pieces just because it comes with a name, i.e. American Apparel. American Apparel is great because they stand behind how the product is made, being that everything is produced in Downtown LA so I understand why some people purchase from there but honestly, the economy sucks; BE FRUGAL PEOPLE! :)

#1 is missing a stone
#2 broke off

#3 is turning colors
#4 is a close up of the colors changing

#5 the earrings are broken, the strings broke
#6 clasp is broken

#7 watch is turning colors
#8 stones missing

#9 the leather is peeling
#10 just coming apart!

#11 Wallet is disaster/leather is horrible
#12 clasp broke so it doesn't close

#13 white leather is turning colors
#14 strap is turning yellow (quality leather?! BOO!)

#15 this is only one huge hole in the bottom of the purse/there is another
#16 Super dirty

#17 Peeling
#18 / #19 cracking

#20 fabric peeling

#21 I dont know if you can tell but the sweater is turning colors..??
#22 The other buckle is peeling the fabric

So yes, this is all most of my Betsey stuff; I don't even know what this accumulates too; I estimate it's around $2000 but I didn't add in two different pieces because they were gifts but mannnn... :(

Am I Serious Right Now?

I know, I know what you all are thinking. I'm Betsey Johnson obsessed, right? Not anymore.
I've noticed that everything I've ever bought from Betsey Johnson has turned to worthless; literally. No bag that ranges from $80-$500 should fall apart the way my bags have and I'm not rough with them! The jewelry, I understand is costume jewelry, but when your spending $30-$150 on jewelry and it's turning colors or losing pieces, something is wrong.

I recently went to my favorite Betsey Johnson location and asked the manager about the value of the jewelry. She said Betsey was making the jewelry with more value and having a longer life but I'm not convinced. Also, another girl said that now the Betsey Johnson bags will become Betseyville bags and Betseyville will be discontinued. Betsey Johnson bags as I know them, (advertised as classier, chicer, more high-end bags) are going to be more expensive and more high-end.....UM NO!

Enough with you Betsey!
I'll be posting pictures of what has happened to everything I own from Betsey so you'll get an idea...it's too bad. I was truly obsessed with Betsey Johnson! So much so that I went to this location;

I visit Lou, the manager there on a tri-weekly basis, well I did. But if you still love Betsey Johnson, she is by far the best person to be around in that store. I've been to almost every Betsey Johnson store in California and Lou from Walnut Creek and Lou-Lou (who no longer works for the company) from Melrose, are my favorites and have always been there for me! So go say hello to her!

I'm mad that I've spent so much money and I now have bad-quality bags. Thanks!
Now off to find a good quality bag... :(

I had my American Apparel Interview this day; super excited and definitely
had to rep the AA leggings. It was also Go Green day so I HAD to buy a go green
bag to support EARTH! :) BTdubbs, my wedges really do have tacks in them. Not
positive if Jeffrey Campbell really did add the tacks to the wedges or if LF manufactured
them to have the tacks because they aren't anywhere online, not on Piperlime, or any other shoe online store...hmmm.
But I'm so obsessed with them and get super compliments on them! Unique and I love it.

Spring Trends; Real Life.

Good Morning Fashionistas!

I noticed I haven't posted any of my recent purchases which I know I've said I would do; that being said, I've pulled together some great Spring looks, on trend, and with most of my recent purchases. Don't forget to click on the links to buy those pieces, or pieces like mine.

The skirt above is from Wet Seal, and was fairly cheap, under $20. I love finding new ways to wear pieces, unconventionally.
The three looks are three different ways to wear the skirt; make it casual,
dress it up, wear it conventional. Wearing a long vest, long in the front and short, gives you
a longer, leaner look because it creates a clean look, making a line along each side of you.
Perfect for Spring!

I'm absolutely obsessed with this dress. I've purchased this dress
at a consignment shop, and it really was a total find. It's a coatdress so
I can wear it as a dress, or as a "vest". The dress is so unique, with the funnel
neck and the bubble hem and I'm totally obsessed with the pockets. I dressed
it up funky with a leather jacket and booties and classic with a minidress and pumps.

These two looks are super fun for me because it really is transforming
a skirt into a funky way to wear as a top. I paired the skirt, turned into a
top with a pair of harem ankle pants I bought at Forever 21, for around $30. I'm
obsessed with the look to the right because it's so relaxed and so funky. Paired with
the gladiator sandals I got at Urban Outfitters for $48, makes this look on trend.

This dress I've had for a while but I rarely wear it so I tried to find
new ways to wear it. The picture to the right, I thought would be fun to
wear the dress as a skirt. I paired a pure cotton tee I bought at Urban Outfitters
for $24 and belted it with a leather belt from Betsey Johnson for $48. The picture
to the right is simple and fun for a date with a BCBG blazer.

These shorts are so great, which I bought at Forever 21 for around $25. I tried
a few casual looks to make these shorts the star of my outfit. The shorts are on trend
because of the baggy, shredded look. It's best to pair these shorts with either something
tighter on top, like the picture to the left or with something cropped and billowy to create
flow and level out your look. Paired with either gladiator sandals or cowboy boots, it's a fun,
trendy look for this Spring!

Oh good morning fashionistas! It's early in the morning in beautiful Los Angeles; a little too early! :)

On my trip to L.A. for the boyfriend's birthday, I thought I would discuss with you all the fashion down here right now. The weather; disgusting. It has been in the high 90s, and Los Angeles has taken on the "less is more" approach to fashion.

Pieces like American Apparel bra tops, cuffed or shredded denim shorts, minimal gladiator sandals & maxi dresses have been the pieces of the week. Every fashionista is dressed for relaxation except myself, still rockin the pumps & high-waisted skirts/leggings..I definitely wasn't prepared for this trip this time!

I'm hoping to post photos soon, as soon as I figure out how to on my G1. I downloaded an app that supposed to allow me to post photos, but uhhhhh....not lookin' so hot as of yet. But don't fret, they shall be up!

So wherever you are right now, take a deep breath, hope for cooler weather and rock your short shorts BECAUSE mannn its hot!

I'm making a huge effort to show you readers that looking chic doesn't have to cost much at all; it's about making the time to search...or hiring me :).

I've looked high and low and really was impressed with: Kohls!!

I know what your thinking but seriously give this place a chance.

Pros: Great looks for a better price.

Cons: Customer service is ZERO and the place is a possible mess.

The pro definitely outweighs the con.

I found two great designers that I was definitely impressed with, no polyester needed.

I love SimplyVera by Vera Wang. In it of itself, Vera Wang knows a woman's body and designs specifically to fit the right way. Although I didn't take pictures of any of her pieces, I will be adding so stay tuned.

I adored Dana Buchman. OMG, seriously, although the "look" could be a bit more mature than I would of liked, her style and design is amazing and she really captured the classic look.

SO, I'm doing a little shopping with one of my clients today and I come across these two babies, two identical bags are Forever 21, priced at $34.80! Shocking...the real Gucci bags are priced at $1900 and that was on sale in December! So crazy, I know.

So, I know this isn't fashion but shoot, it's great to talk about.

I love to tan, I really do but after reading way too much about getting skin cancer because I have so many moles, I decided I really needed to find something that will give me my "good glow" without being in the sun for a long time.

Both of these products work really well; The L'Oreal wipes are great because it's instant tan and I loved the way it looked. The Jergens lotion that builds your tan is great too because it's not so instant and it builds well.

The biggest thing that you have to remember when using this stuff is DON'T GO INTO THE SUN! Your skin will turn super yellow, literally, banana pale yellow. It's gross so if you use both of these products, don't go in the sun.

This trend is HUGE right now and thank goodness, because it's such a great look to pull off, no matter your budget. I've gone to my most favorite cheap-and-chic shop, Forever 21, to find great looks to pull "Hippie-Chic" off.

Grey & Olive Tank: $15.80 Magenta & Grey Tank: $17.80

These feathered tanks were great with a pair of ripped jeans or leggings, with a skinny belt and beaded chains.

Basic Tee-$5.50 Draped Tunic-$19.80

These are perfect basics and are great for layering. Having white tees are so essential in your closet and I would always prefer to get basic, quality tees at Banana Republic or Gap but if your truly on a budget, Forever 21 has great ones as well. The draped tunic is a great body-shaper tee because it's long on each side of you to elongate your body, making your appearance seem taller and thinner. Adding a belt is great to keep that waist in tight.

I'm obsessed with layering and so are hippie chicks. Pairing both these vests over white tees and adding chunky jewelry creates that hippie vibe and fun, relaxed appeal your looking for.
